Jounen Kwéyòl | Creole vibes continue! I know Jounen Kwéyòl has passed, but I finally had the time to prepare a little Creole meal this evening — nothing extravagant, just hearty, simple, and flavourful. The avocados weren't quite like the ones back home in the Caribbean, but they did the job! I was so happy to find okra (or "gumbo" as some call it) at the Chinese shop — they even had yams and a few Caribbean staples.
On tonight’s menu: green fig and saltfish sautéed in coconut oil, fried plantain, cucumber salad, avocado, tomatoes, boiled okra, and a glass of lemonade. Simple, satisfying, and so delicious!
Tomorrow's plan: cocoa tea and ripe plantain for breakfast.😋 Hope you all had a wonderful Jounen Kwéyòl weekend!
